It’s been over a year since the world was thrown into a frenzy because of the COVID-19 pandemic. For mothers, this meant a whole lot of stress, from managing work, school, and household chores all at once, to constantly worrying about the health and safety of their loved ones. So, it’s no surprise that many women found solace in a bottle of wine (or two, or three).
Let’s face it: during the pandemic, drinking became a coping mechanism for many of us moms. We turned to alcohol to take the edge off the stress, the isolation, and the fear of the unknown. With social distancing guidelines and stay-at-home orders in place, spending quality time with friends became a thing of the past. Rather, many of us found ourselves turning to alcohol as a way to unwind and help us cope with our anxiety. (Not realizing that it was only making our problems and our depression worse.)
We ran across this article, Women, alcohol, and COVID-19, written by Harvard Health Publishing, and it’s a must-read. If you felt like you drank too much during the pandemic, please know you are not alone. And it’s never too late to change your habits and create a healthier lifestyle for yourself and your family.
